Spiders and scorpions are hugely misunderstood and feared creatures that are often killed on sight. They have been the scourge of humankind and feared by civilizations for thousands of years. But should we be afraid of these creatures?
Facts about spiders and scorpions are examined, giving the participants a unique perspective and understanding. By understanding these facts the web of lies that misinformation has created, is debunked.
The course covers the identification, symptoms and treatment of bite by the Violin Spider, Sac Spider, Black Button Spider, Brown Button Spider, Six-Eyed Sand Spider, as well as scorpions stings. Case studies, hoaxes and grossly inaccurate newspaper reports are examined to unveil the truth behind the media’s portrayal of these amazing creatures.
The course covers identification characteristics, symptoms and recommended first aid treatment. It also answers the questions of when self-medication is an option, or when professional medical assistance is required.
