Image Together with a German production company, we recently shot an insert for  "Pro Sieben" in the science show called Galileo, This insert will be aired in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on the 6th May at 7:30pm. If you do live in those countries and just happen to be watching the telly at that time you are in for a treat.

The insert is about 5 minutes long and includes a general look at scorpions followed by a trip to a local Nature reserve. Lots of close ups and unusual shots of scorpions with their fancy camera equipment. We focused on the scorpion and man relationship so we covered venomosity, how to differentiate highly venomous species of weakly venomous species and the effects of their venom.

The episode was going to be aired later this year but because of the great footage we took, it was aired eariler than initially scheduled. After some experimentation we shot some footage of a scorpion under UV light, so you’ll get a good idea of what to look for at night when using a UV torch. We also managed to get footage of venom oozing out of the venom duct of a particularly feisty Parabuthus transvaalicus. All Good Stuff! Thanks to the guys for having to hold scorpions and get really up close and personal with my favorite creepy crawlies.
